If you are a young, aspiring marine biologist, join the Marine Biological Association for high profile, inspirational speakers from around the world, prizes, career advice and more at this year’s Young Marine Biologist Summit. The event is free to attend online and is being organised in partnership with Save our Seas Foundation.

YMB 2021 highlights will include:

  • Sea Life Showdown – Watch passionate marine biologists battle to convince you their ocean predator is the most awesome and cast your vote to decide the winner!

Speakers include 
Professor John Spicer from the University of Plymouth. John is taking part in Sea Life Showdown when he will be putting in the case for lyssianid amphipods.

John is a marine zoologist at the University’s Marine Institute and his research interests focus on the innermost workings of marine organisms in a quest to understand how they work and evolve in the wild, and how they adapt to climate change. John is an enthusiastic advocate of marine biology and an eminent scientist renowned for his expertise in ocean acidification and hypoxia, he has contributed a substantial wealth of knowledge to the field over three decades.
