Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the University of Delaware

Applications are being accepted for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the School of Marine Science and Policy, the University of Delaware working with Dr. Wei-Jun Cai, available immediately. This NSF-funded project focuses on the dynamics of inorganic carbon, pH, and oxygen as well as the interactions between ocean acidification and coastal ocean eutrophication in the Mississippi River plume and Northern Gulf of Mexico hypoxic region.

The Cai lab is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Postdoctoral researcher to join this project.  The candidate should have a strong biogeochemical background (preferably already has experience working with the inorganic carbon system).  The candidate must have sufficient field experience and is able to organize/coordinate a large group of participants (students, fellow postdocs and visiting scientists). Importantly, the candidate must also have a strong writing skill and a high motivation to lead publishing high quality scientific papers; this should be demonstrated by the prior publication record.

While not required, modeling, and statistical/numerical expertise would be an advantage. The Cai coastal ocean CO2 lab is a relatively large group, currently comprised of with 5 Ph.D. students, 3 postdocs and a lab coordinator and with several active federally funded research projects. The postdoc will have a potential to gain broader experiences via participating and collaborating on other projects.

This is a full time, 12-month position, with a funding period of up to three years (upon satisfactory annual review). The candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemical oceanography or a related discipline by the start date. Questions regarding this position can be addressed to Dr. Wei-Jun Cai at wcai(at)udel.edu.  Applicants should send their cover letter, CV, brief description of research interests, and contact information for three references to Dr. Wei-Jun Cai.  Official announcement and application will be completed via the University of Delaware’s Department of Human Resource job website.
