Mesocosm experiment in oxygen-minimum zone off Peru

GEOMAR and IMARPE will organize a large-scale mesocosm experiment to study deoxygenation and ocean acidification from 30 January to 7 April 2017 off Callao, Peru. A wide range of ecological and biogeochemical parameters will be measured. The IAEA/OA-ICC will be able to support the participation in this unique experiment of one or two researchers from IAEA Member States in the Latin American/Caribbean region through a new IAEA inter-regional project (INT7019).

In order to be considered, nominated participants should have a University degree in marine sciences or a related scientific field, and should be currently technically involved in ocean acidification studies. This is an advanced training/collaboration opportunity, so applicants will need to have basic knowledge of ocean acidification.

Only official applications through the IAEA can be considered. If you are interested in participating, please contact Lina Hansson at the IAEA/OA-ICC (l.hansson(at)iaea.org) for more information about the application procedure. Applications should be received by Wednesday 22 June 2016.
