OA-ICC December calendar: 8/12 – “Born in the USA”

Count down the days until 2015 together with the OA-ICC! Each day of December you will find a short story on the OA-ICC news stream highlighting an ocean acidification project, effort, or resource.

Discover today’s story below, “Born in the USA”.

US NOAA Ocean Acidification Program

The NOAA OAP was established in 2011 to conduct research and monitoring activities on ocean acidification and how it might impact economically and ecologically relevant species and ecosystems. The program is also working to develop adaptation strategies and education and outreach activities through partnerships bringing together scientists, resource managers, policy makers, educators and the general public.

As an integral part of a broad US research effort on OA, the NOAA OAP is coordinating closely with other US federal agencies working on the topic (see Interagency Working Group for more information). Moreover, the program is actively engaged in international cooperation efforts such as the Global Ocean Acidification Observing Network (GOA-ON), the Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre (OA-ICC) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other international scientific endeavors.
