Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are not affecting only the atmosphere: 30% of anthropogenic CO2 emissions were absorbed by the oceans in the past few decades, recent estimates show. However, Kouketsu and Murata note that these estimates are based entirely on research that was conducted in the 1990s and that more recent measurements of oceanic CO2 have not been taken into account.
