Ocean Acidification Curriculum Collection

The Ocean Acidification Curriculum Collection is a database of activities and lesson plans appropriate for the K-12 classroom setting and for outreach purposes. Through conferring with teachers, tribes, scientists, and local government, the working group aims to demonstrate how these OA curricula can meet the requirements of the cutting-edge Next Generation Science Standards for public schools. During a three-day conference with biology teachers, we created six learning targets that address ocean acidification.

The following six learning targets were conceived by teachers to incorporate OA education into the public school setting:

Learning Target 1: Carbon chemistry in cycles
Learning Target 2: The shifting carbon balance
Learning Target 3: Physiological impacts of OA on marine species
Learning Target 4: Ecological impacts of OA
Learning Target 5: Impacts to ecosystem services
Learning Target 6: Finding Solutions
