In this interview, Ken Caldeira (Stanford University) answers:
– How do climate engineering techniques relate to mitigation and adaptation?
– What is ocean acidification?
– Would any climate engineering techniques address ocean acidification?
Climate engineering is rapidly becoming a contentious issue within political, scientific, and cultural discussions of climate change, in part due to a perceived lack of progress on crucial emission reductions. By organizing a large conference in August 2014, we strive to engage in critical global discussions by bringing together the research, policy, and civic communities to discuss the highly complex and interlinked ethical, social and technical issues that come into focus when discussing climate engineering.
