Global climate change translates into an increase in ocean temperatures and ocean acidification, with far-reaching consequences. In a new Cafe Scientifique talk,, Giacomo Bernardi will explore genomic changes due to warming and acidification on February 11 at SRI’s International Building in Menlo Park from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. The talk is free of charge.
In Mediterranean waters, warming has resulted in an increase in biological invaders coming from the Red Sea via the Suez Canal. Ocean acidification has changed a number of physiological responses in fishes, particularly modifying their olfaction. Using fish as model systems and next generation genomic sequencing, Dr. Bernardi’s talk will illustrate one way of looking at the future of our ecosystems.
