The impact of ocean acidification is of great concern for Pacific communities who depend on healthy oceans for their livelihood.
Dr Katharina Fabricius is a coral reef scientist from the Australian Institute of Marine Science in Townsville, North Queensland.
She is investigating the consequences of ocean acidification at three volcanic sites in Papua New Guinea.
These natural laboratories provide information about long-term ecological changes and physiological adaptation of marine life.
