Ocean for Life program accepting applications

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is accepting applications from high school students ages 14 to 18 for Ocean for Life.

The two-week, all-expenses paid program brings together 30 students from Western and Middle Eastern cultures to study marine science.

The July field study will focus on the Channel Islands. Students will study climate change, ocean acidification, blue whale ship strikes, marine life and the Chumash culture. The students will also work with staff members from the National Geographic Photo Camp to create a DVD of their experiences.

The deadline to apply is Monday. For more information and to apply, go to http://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/education.
