Science Mondays: “Acidification of the Oceans”, Brookdale Community College, 25 April 2016

Dr. Matthew Poach, Marine Biogeochemist and Supervisor of the Ocean Acidification Laboratory, NOAA/NMFS, Howard Laboratory, Sandy Hook, will explain how acidification of the ocean environment can disrupt the marine food chain and affect the commercial fishing industry.

Poach is a research chemist and supervisor of the Ocean Acidification Laboratory at NOAA in Sandy Hook. He will discuss the problems of increased acidity levels in the ocean, which may be adversely affecting major portions of the marine food chain as well as the commercial fisheries industry.

The meeting will includes the college’s Environmental Club and students, the Jersey Shore (Monmouth) Sierra Group and other environmental organizations. (…)
