AMAO

Association Monégasque pour l’Acidification des Océans (AMAO)

Fighting ocean acidification calls for a robust commitment to invest all required human and financial efforts. The Association Monégasque pour l’Acidification des Océans (AMAO or Monegasque Association for Ocean Acidification) joined the “combat” in December 2013. Its overall goal is to help communicate, promote and facilitate international actions on ocean acidification and other global marine environment stressors.

AMAO is committed to homogenise communication between the various institutions working in Monaco to combat ocean acidification: the Prince Albert II Foundation and the Government of Monaco, the IAEA Environment Laboratories, the Monaco Scientific Centre and the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco. AMAO is working towards identifying funding opportunities for projects on ocean acidification, including collecting funds from private donors.

In order to ensure a broader representation, AMAO enlists among its members representatives from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Please visit the AMAO website for more information on its organization and activities.
