4th International Symposium on the Ocean in a High-CO2 World, Tasmania, Australia, 3-6 May 2016

The 4th International Symposium on the Ocean in a High-CO2 World will be held at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, from 3 to 6 May 2016. The Hobart symposium will build on the three previous symposia and will be held for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Symposium will offer the worldwide community of scientists working to understand ocean acidification opportunities to share their research results and develop new research collaborations. Government representatives, policy makers, PhD students and educators are equally welcome to attend the Symposium.

This edition’s proposed thematic areas include:

  • Changing ocean carbonate chemistry from coastal to open ocean environments: past, present and future;
  • Linking process studies and observations from local to regional scale;
  • Ecosystem change and resilience in response to ocean acidification;
  • Multiple environmental stressors and their compounding influences on ocean acidification response;
  • Acclimation and adaption to ocean acidification;
  • Impacts of ocean acidification on fisheries, food security and biodiversity.

Online abstract submission will be open on 1 June 2015. Submission guidelines, including presentation formats, will be made available soon.
