Dr. Richard Feely will speak at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology about his research on the effects of increased CO2 on ocean processes and ecosystems.
The lecture begins at 7 p.m. May 31 at OIMB, 63466 Boat Basin Road, Charleston. Feely will present a talk entitled, “Ocean Acidification, a clear and present danger for ocean ecosystems”.
Feely is a senior scientist at NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory and an affiliate professor of Oceanography at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is one of the world’s leading experts on the ocean’s response to increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. He is member of the Carbon Program at NOAA, which seeks to help the United States better predict and respond to impacts of climate change.
