Postdoctoral fellow in invertebrate eco-physiology

The Faculty of Science at University of Gothenburg announces a fixed-term employment as Postdoctoral Fellow in Invertebrate eco-physiology at the Department of Marine Ecology.

The Department of Marine Ecology performs research and teaching both at the main campus in Göteborg and at the two marine research stations in Tjärnö and Kristineberg. For more information about research and teaching activities at the Department see our website:

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is regarded as a key technology for the reduction of CO2 emissions from power plants and other sources at the European and international level. The aim of the project is to enhance our understanding of how exposure to high pCO2 mimicking different scenarios of CO2 leaks at storage sites may affect the marine environment. Long term perturbation experiments will be performed on a range of key benthic species (e.g. echinoderms and molluscs) and a range of molecular and physiological parameters will be measured with the aim to identify common stress markers.

Qualification requirements
To qualify as a postdoctoral fellow you must have completed a PhD in a subject area relevant for the position or you must have a foreign degree corresponding to a PhD in a subject area relevant for the position. Preference will be given to candidates who have been awarded the degree no more than three years before the application deadline. Applicants with a degree earlier may be preferred if specific reasons exist. Such specific reasons may be a leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

The candidate should have documented experience in at least one, and preferably several, relevant sub-disciplines (for example, ocean acidification, molecular biology, invertebrate culturing, eco-physiology). This is primarily shown by publications in international peer-reviewed journals or the PhD thesis. Experience in running own projects and ability to work independently is meritorious. Experience in working within a team and in collaboration with other researchers is also meritorious.
