Carol Turley’s presentation at the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice 34 workshop, held in Bonn (Germany) from on 2-3 June 2011, describes the cause and consequences of ocean acidification. It also highlights some key results from EPOCA (European Project on OCean Acidification):
- observed and projected ocean acidification at high latitudes
- EPOCA 2009 and 2010 Svalbard experiments
- changes at the base of food web
- dimethyl sulphide
- CO2 vents
Also briefly summarized are the dissemination and outreach activities, and EPOCA products such as the Monaco Declaration, the RUG guides for policy makers, the book on ocean acidification, the film “Tipping Point” and the animation “The Other CO2 Problem”.
