University of Gothenburg at the Department of Marine Ecology
A post-doc position, funded by Formas (the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning), is available on the combined effects of changes in the marine environment and consumer trait diversity for processes in eelgrass systems. The job includes literature surveys, field work, experimental evaluation, and data analysis.
The aim of the project is to enhance our understanding of how changes in the marine environment, such as increased acidification and temperature, may affect the trait diversity of small consumer species in beds of the marine angiosperm Zostera marina, and how this impacts important ecosystem processes. The project will also study if, and how, consumer communities that differ in diversity differ in their response to environmental stressors.
The candidate should have a degree in ecology or marine biology with experience in at least one, and preferably several, relevant sub-disciplines (for example, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, ocean acidification, seagrass ecology). It is important that the candidate has a broad interest in general ecology, and has experience in statistics and modelling, as well as carrying out field- and lab experiments. Furthermore, the candidate should have experience in running his/her own project. The work will be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Lars Gamfeldt (Dep. Marine Ecology, GU) and Prof. Jon Havenhand (Dep. Marine Ecology, GU).
The position is for 24 months. The successful candidate will be based at the Dep. of Marine Ecology, University of Gothenburg, and experiments and field studies will be conducted at the Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences (Kristineberg or Tjärnö).
Feel free to contact Lars Gamfeldt (lars.gamfeldt@marecol.gu.se) or Jon Havenhand (jon.havenhand@marecol.gu.se) for further details.
